Writer Bio

I am an aspiring science fiction writer in central Virginia. For most of my life, I have focused on the science part of the science fiction; I recently earned my PhD in chemical engineering, studying chaos and nonlinear dynamics. I have had less formal training in writing. (Will trade science knowledge for writing knowledge!) I also enjoy drawing and illustrating. I love the way word and image can kindle the imagination together (I really like Ursula Vernon's work). A couple of years ago I put together a set of science fiction fairy tales, and I'm working on some more projects in that vein. I have been part of a writing group in my area for about 18 months, illustrating to me the value of support for a writer. I may move soon, and in this write-a-thon, I most hope to make more writing connections and friends.

Writing Style

Typically I write less adorned, as this is more similar to the scientific writing familiar to me. I like to write humor and absurdism, but I try many styles. Improvement comes through effort and overcoming failure, so I aim not to limit what I'm willing to try.
