*** Outside work: published sporadically in a women's magazine circa 1990s, once in a national daily, once in the Philippine Online Chronicles, recently in a print mag for creatives, so not a lot yet for the kind of thing I want to write *** For the 9 to 5: lots and lots of public-facing technical blog entries about cybersecurity, lots and lots of technical papers and landscape reports throughout my decade-long (and still on-going) career in IT
I always think I'm being cool while drafting, but during revision I read myself as too earnest and strangely optimistic in the face of tragedies. Family features strongly in a lot of my stories even if I don't mean to.
I'm revising my WIP (working title: Pangkantong Gabay sa Pagiging Ganap, which very loosely translates to: Field Guide to Being Here), an overhaul of a Tagalog novel I've written and rewritten over the course of several years, with the goal of shopping it around to Filipino publishers by the end of the workshop timeline. When I finish it, I'll go straight to a new short story draft and revise another in parallel, until the workshop season ends. I am targeting at least 3 butt-in-chair hours every week day for 6 weeks.
Every little bit helps! I was only able to attend because of scholarship money so this cause is close to my heart! Donate yo moneeeh (please).
Alas, the Clarion Write-a-Thon has ended, with $8,640.50 raised so far! However, we are still accepting donations. Thank you for your support!
