On The Web
Attended Clarion 1982 when it was at Michigan State. Spent most of my career as a journalist, the last few years as a freelancer based in Kalamazoo, MI. Diving back into my SF passions with two novels published, a third in editing stage, and a couple of non-fiction science stories for The Atlantic mag's website. Joined Clarion Foundation board as treasurer in fall 2016 in relief of fellow Clarion '82 alum Nance E., though she's still guiding me through all this.
It depends on the urgings of my characters. They don't always like my original notions and insist on changes. I enjoy writing about plausible futures, but don't ask me to explain the science. It's hard enough explaining the people. My characters tend to have an interesting sense of humor.
The goal may be the length of a short story, possibly about the Captain and crew of a sad sack asteroid runner Ceres Charlene. Also hope to throw in a blog or two. And for my major challenge -- clean my desk! One key goal obtained July 4: Sent my novel and pitch to a publisher.
$300, would love to do more.
Alas, the Clarion Write-a-Thon has ended, with $9,535.48 raised so far! However, we are still accepting donations. Thank you for your support!
